Job description

Team/division:
TME Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, development and production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. TME R&D aims to strengthen Toyota brand in Europe.
TME R&D Powertrain division responsibilities are:

  • Local development of powertrain parts for vehicles built in one of Toyota's European production plants. This activity is done in close cooperation with our European suppliers and our mother divisions in Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in Japan. TMC relies on us to develop components that are matching European customers' expectations and European suppliers' production methods.
  • Investigation of new European technologies through technical and performance benchmarking by model base development and/or test bench evaluation.

Your Project:
You will contribute to Toyota powertrain system improvement for the European market. And you will challenge to further improve performance and appeal of future Toyota hybrid powertrains.
As an internship student in Powertrain Design Dept, your main tasks will be:

  • Identify and prioritize customer needs for Toyota hybrid vehicles in the EU market by:
    • Acquiring a deep understanding of Toyota hybrid transmissions
    • Using information about EU-specific driving habits and expectations (data log, market surveys)
    • Analyzing competitor designs and European OEM trends
  • Propose design changes to better meet EU customers’ needs

From adaptations of existing solutions to new concepts.

Searched Profile

  • Last year of Master degree in mechanical, electro-mechanical, automotive engineering
  • Interest and motivation in automotive, knowledge of powertrain and drivetrain system
  • Machine component design and mechanical engineering skills required
  • Electric motor knowledge is an asset
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD (Catia, Creo) & simulation software (Abaqus, CFD) is an asset
  • Strong out-of-box thinking and creativity
  • Excellent communication skills, team spirit, time and project management
  • Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & spoken)
  • Holder of a valid driving license
