The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) strengthens transatlantic cooperation on regional, national, and global challenges and opportunities in the spirit of the Marshall Plan.
GMF contributes research and analysis and convenes leaders on transatlantic issues relevant to policymakers. GMF offers rising leaders opportunities to develop their skills and networks through transatlantic exchange, and supports civil society in the Balkans and Black Sea regions by fostering democratic initiatives, rule of law, and regional cooperation.
Founded in 1972 as a non-partisan, nonprofit organization through a gift from Germany as a permanent memorial to Marshall Plan assistance, GMF maintains a strong presence on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to its headquarters in Washington, DC, GMF has offices in Berlin, Paris, Brussels, Belgrade, Ankara, Bucharest, and Warsaw.
This position is located in GMF’s Brussels office. The event trainee will work closely with the different GMF programs and will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Assistant to the GMF vice president..
Assist in event logistics.
Assist in general office administration, including the drafting of briefing notes at meetings and events.
Maintain and update the organization’s contact database.
Liaisewith vendors and other external partners
Work closely with the Communications Section to elevate GMF’s visibility during meetings and events.
Perform ad hoc duties if required.
Competencies:Speaks and writes clearly and effectively.
Enjoys working in a multinational environment. Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multitask while observing deadlines and achieving results.
Demonstrated ability to use computer technology, including MS Office.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Remains calm in stressful situations.
Fluency in oral and written English is required
Dutch and French an asset
hands on, detail oriented minumun bachelor degree in the hospitality or tourism sector
