Gallery Assistant

Founded in September 2013 in the Châtelain district of Brussels, the Super Dakota gallery represents a dozen international artists, established and emerging. We organize six exhibitions a year, with a mix of collective and personal presentations and participate in several international fairs, such as LISTE, Basel; NADA, Miami and New York; Art Cologne and Art Monte Carlo. 

Job description

Super Dakota is looking for a pro-active person who can assist with daily tasks at the gallery including preparaton of visuals (Photoshop, Illustrator), creating newsletters (knowelede of basic softwares), managing social media, helping with installling and deinstalling of the art works, archiving and cataloguing, mantaing updated database of artworks, assistaing with logistics, assisting on the art fairs and additional exhbiting venues.

The potential candidate shall be thorough, solution-seeking individual with possitive attitude eager to enjoy the work in the cultural field and help the artist to innitiate their projects. 

We are looking for a trainee from now on for 3 to 6 months in order to fulfill the following missions:
- Exhibition preparation (logistics, iconography, updating the database, archiving, help with editing and dismantling, etc.)
- Fair preparation (Skilled with Adobe software as Photoshop, InDesing and Illustrator) 

- Graphic updates (Cvs, Portoflios, Checklists, Reports, ...)
- Help with administrative and logistical tasks of the gallery
- Transport management assistance (estimate, packaging, shipment management)






Searched Profile

- Ideally, we are looking for someone full time but are flexible on the days and schedules of work.
- We are looking for a versatile, rigorous, enthusiastic, curious trainee with a great sense of detail and responsibility.
- Your written and oral communication is impeccable.

- You have a habit of working on Mac and mastering InDesign, Photoshop, Word and Excel.

- You speak fluent French and have a good level of English, some Flemish notions are also always welcome.
- Ideally the candidate will be comfortable with the manipulation of the works of art.
- Ideally a previous experience in gallery or auction house is desired.
- The hours are from 9h to 18h with lunch break of 1h from Tuesday to Friday.

- Possibility to extend part-time position to a full-time

- Applicant should be MA student or a graduate who can have a trainship contract / learning agreement with the University
