Internship: Gallery assistant

Company description

Tommy Simoens was established during the Spring of 2016 at Waalsekaai 31 in Antwerp’s South district. It works with individual artists in a wide range of projects, organizing solo and group exhibitions in Antwerp as well as facilitating broader curatorial projects worldwide. The gallery is committed to stimulating art scenes both in Antwerp, Belgium and beyond, with a range of diverse projects initiated in dialogue with artists.

Job description

Tasks:
Daily gallery upkeep, greeting visitors, customers, carriers and suppliers
Assistance with the preparation of exhibitions, vernissages and art fairs
General art handling: packaging, comparing quotes
Maintenance of gallery website & social media
Updating files and database

Searched Profile

Required Qualifications:
Education in art (history), business management or communication
Interest in contemporary art and wanting to learn the inner workings of an art gallery
Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking, problem solving attitude
Master computer tools and databases, social media
Oral and written proficiency in English, Dutch and / or French
Hard worker, flexible hours

The intern will receive training in the organization of exhibitions and art fairs, promoting artists, managing artist’s inventory and join the day-to-day activities in a fast-growing young art gallery with international projects.
