Internship at European Family Businesses

European Family Businesses is the EU federation of national associations representing long-term family owned enterprises, including small, medium-sized and larger companies. Family businesses make up between 65 to 80% of all European companies, accounting for on average more than 40 to 50% of all jobs. Family businesses constitute a substantial part of existing European companies and have a significant role to play in the strength and dynamism of the real economy. EFB aims to ensure the long-term survival and prosperity of a plural, diverse and economically successful family business sector. 

Description de la fonction

The internship offers the possibility to learn about the work European Family Businesses does, in particular the promotion of family business values in the EU arena (long termism, social responsibility, care for the environment, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, etc). It offers a look into the way the EU institutions work as well as providing personal experience in the field by taking part in conferences, meetings and consultations with key European institutional players. In addition, the internship offered by EFB provides the opportunity for interns to hone their writing, editing, web management and event organisation skills among many others.

It consists of support and assistance in the following areas:

-Supporting EFB’s administration and organizational work, such as event organising, database management, attending events in EFB’s name, etc
-Updating and adding to EFB’s social media presence through tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, etc
-Monitoring legislative and non-legislative initiatives that impact family businesses;
-Supporting the EFB policy advisor in the development of strategies and other projects
-Supporting and helping with the organization of the 2018 Family Business Summit in Brussels

Profil recherché

-Candidates should have excellent English language skills and very good written and verbal communication skills; the knowledge of one other EU language would be an asset.
-Interest in event organization/management.
-Knowledgeable in HTML and Business Catalyst CMS would be an asset
-Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database).
-The candidate should be self-motivated, well organized, and able to work efficiently and autonomously
-The person should be an excellent team-player and have an interest in lobbying, public affairs and EU policy.

EFB Internships are only open to candidates registered in a University/School/Institute, as a contract must be signed between EFB and the student’s home university. Please note that this is a compulsory condition; applications that do not match this criterion will not be shortlisted. 

Nous offrons

 

EFB is offering a paid, full-time internship at the EFB headquarters in Brussels for a period of 3-6 months. This internship will consist of assistance in monitoring EU legislation, maintaining a social media profile and assisting in the organization of the May 2018 EFB annual summit, among other tasks. The internship will be of particular use to anyone who seeks professional experience related to lobbying, event organisation, European affairs, website management and communications.

Available to start on the 01/09/18.   NB: The Deadline for applications is Friday the 3rd of August.
