Our three main business areas operate in Belgium. In Pharmaceuticals we sell medicines to treat a range of conditions including respiratory diseases, heart disease, epilepsy, bacterial and viral infections such as HIV and lupus, and skin conditions like psoriasis.
GSK Vaccines’ headquarters are in Belgium, with 8,500 employees working across three sites (Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux). All of our expertise and activities are integrated: R&D, manufacturing, commercial and support functions. The Vaccines division of GSK is a world leader in the production of vaccines. We have 16 candidate vaccines in development and our broad portfolio of over 30 vaccines prevent illnesses. Globally, we have more than 12,000 people working to deliver vaccines safely, every day, to people in 90% of the world’s countries. In 2013 we distributed around 860 million doses of vaccine, 80% of them to the least developed, low and middle income countries.
In Consumer Healthcare we sell innovative consumer products in four categories: wellness, skin health, oral health and nutrition. Our portfolio includes well-known brands such as NiQuitin, Panadol and Corega.
Get a solid grounding in financial management, plus experience of different global businesses. For analytical thinkers with strong business awareness to inform decisions that will directly influence our growth and development.
What’s this area all about?
Finance is all about utilising the numbers to support everything that we achieve worldwide. Bringing a global perspective to cost-effectiveness, we pride ourselves on delivering excellent service through constant innovation. By joining us, you can directly influence our growth in a rapidly changing global marketplace.
What will the programme be like?
Across this three-year multi-rotational programme, you’ll gain wide-ranging experience of different business units and develop through different finance roles. You’ll do a real job, with responsibilities and deliverables, whether you’re embedded within our research and development (R&D), commercial, manufacturing or corporate functions. Throughout you’ll be part of our global finance community, gaining a solid grounding in financial management.
What will I learn?
You’ll develop a sound understanding of financial management through a series of challenging, in-depth work placements and through study for your CIMA qualification. These rotational placements will give you a detailed insight into a large, multi-national company.
Where can I work?
Our Finance Future Leaders Programme is available in the countries listed below. During the three-year programme you will spend at least two years in your local country, but we’re a truly global organisation, so you may find the opportunity to gain international experience in the future.
What’s expected of me?
You will be an integral member of the finance team, with your own area of responsibility and deliverables. In addition, we’ll expect you to get involved in projects, often working in cross-functional teams. This means you’ll need to build working relationships with people at all levels of our organisation. You’ll analyse and interpret data to identify and understand trends, insights and facts. You will use strong communication skills to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance partners. While on placement, we will expect you to grow your business understanding. Not least, we want you to keep developing new skills and knowledge wherever you find the opportunity.
What do I need to succeed?
Whatever your degree, you’ll need ambition, business acumen, a genuine interest in finance and a self-motivated, proactive approach. We’re looking for clear, effective communicators who can quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people. It’s also important that you can adapt to change and keep focused when the pressure is on. You need the drive and confidence to trust your own judgements and be a real team player who actively collaborates with others. In addition, you’ll need an analytical mind, a talent for multi-tasking and the ability to influence others.
