EU Policy and Liaison Assistant


The European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) is the single authoritative voice on advertising self-regulation. Its mission is to promote high ethical standards in marketing communications through effective self-regulation, for the benefit of consumers and business in Europe and beyond. As a non-profit organisation established in 1992 and based in Brussels, EASA brings together national advertising self-regulatory organisations and associations representing the advertising industry in Europe. EASA is looking for a EU policy and liaison assistant to provide support the team with:

  • Monitoring developments in the EU institutions of relevant policy files, including debates and votes in the European Parliament, attending events and conferences, writing memos etc.
  • Assisting in the preparation of policy briefs for EASA members
  • Setting up meetings with Members of the European Parliament, Commission and Permanent Representations
  • Aggregation and preliminary analysis of statistical data, including assistance in report drafting
  • Conducting research on the developments in the advertising sector and relevant national policies
  • Drafting articles for EASA bi-monthly newsletter
  • Assisting with other department activities or administrative duties if needed.


The successful candidate must:

  • Being currently enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher) in legal, political or other social sciences
  • Have a strong knowledge of the EU decision making process
  • Be fluent in English, both oral and written, as this is the working language of the organization
  • Be interested in advertising/marketing communication and advertising self-regulation
  • Good working knowledge of standard office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and prior experience working with statistical data
  • Be a reliable, well-organised person with good attention to details
  • Be available preferably from beginning of April 2017
  • Be covered by a formal internship agreement provided by his or her university or training institution;
  • Be legally allowed to do a training internship in Belgium.
