POLITICO Europe is looking for an Events Intern - dynamic, international and fun atmosphere

POLITICO’s events department seeks a smart and proactive intern to join its fast-paced team to deliver events in Brussels and in major European capitals.
POLITICO events are the live extension of POLITICO’s mission to be the number one destination for coverage and analysis of the ideas and personalities driving European politics and policy. We are the modern voice of European political journalism, reaching the most influential political professionals running European institutions and member states, as well as the millions of people
consuming political news on a daily basis.


As part of the events team, your main role will be to assist the Project Manager in charge of organizing POLITICO events and the EU Studies Fair 2017.

What is POLITICO?

POLITICO is a global nonpartisan politics and policy news organization, headquartered in Wash­ington, DC. In April 2015, a European edition of the publication launched through a joint venture with the leading digital publisher in Europe, Axel Springer. Based in Brussels, POLITICO covers the politics, policy and personalities of the European Union. Its journalism lives online at POLITICO.eu; in print via a weekly newspaper distributed in Brussels, Berlin, Paris, London and Luxembourg; and through newsmak­ing events. Our departments: editorial and business (PRO sales, AD sales, events and marketing) – around 80 international colleagues

 

About POLITICO Events

We usually organize half day-conferences or smaller formats (45’ interviews, i.e)

 

About 30 events a year in Europe, multiple formats, moderated by POLITICO reporters. Events free of charge, on-the-record and sometimes, livestreamed.

 

POLITICO’s EU Studies Fair is the largest educational and networking event in the world focused on graduate and postgraduate programs in EU studies, international relations, business, economics, public policy and law. Since 1999, the EU Studies Fair has been a reference for world-class academic institutions to recruit top students from across the world for graduate and postgraduate programs. The two-day fair, held annually in Brussels, is a unique opportunity for students and young professionals to discover both academic and career opportunities. The EU Studies Fair also features career seminars, personalized career counselling, guided tours of the EU institutions and university spotlights.

As part of the events team, your main role will be to assist the Events Project Managers in charge of organizing POLITICO’s events in Brussels as well as the EU Studies Fair in February 2017.

Profiel

Preference will be given to candidates with an ability to multitask and prioritize many simultaneous rapidly evolving projects and tasks. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing, leading and executing projects from conception to execution, and tracking results and impact. The candidate must have excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills. Interns will be tenacious, detailed-oriented, and not afraid to work extra hours. The candidate must have a keen interest in politics and media. Interns are expected to be fluent in English; knowledge of other European languages, such as French, German, Spanish and/or Italian is preferred.

As events intern, your primary assignments will include:

Assisting the project manager with the draft program and research of speakers
Keeping up to date the events calendar, monitoring the events mailbox
Updating marketing materials, copy edit marketing emails (social media, website, mailings)
Preparing event materials (ppt presentation, signage, feedback forms…)
Assisting the project manager during the event (Q&A, cloakroom, collecting feedback forms)
Organizing the set-up at the venue, liaise with providers, ask for quotes
Copy-edit biographies, researching speakers’ contacts
Liaise with speakers offices, collect biographies and photos, take minutes
Taking part in the events weekly meetings
Executing post-event tasks: thank you emails, analyze of feedback forms, contest results…
Updating the database with new contacts
Liaising with exhibitors/sponsors/partners (collecting documents, sending contracts, organizing briefings…)
Creating and coordinating content for the EU Studies Guide
Monitoring the list of attendees and registrations
Organizing the EUSF Ambassadors’ project and EUSF contest
