If you’re reading this, it means you’re interested in studying Industrial Engineering. Before anything else, you should know that this program has a particularity: although it is taught in a university college (haute école), it is actually considered a university-level education. This is because becoming an Industrial Engineer requires obtaining a Master’s degree, meaning these studies are structured in two cycles. The first cycle, the Bachelor’s degree, lasts three years, followed by the Master’s degree, which takes two additional years. At the end of the first cycle, some institutions allow you to choose a specialization for your Master’s: automation, electromechanics, electronics, surveying, IT engineering, construction…During this program, you will take general courses as well as specialized technical courses. You will participate in projects, internships, seminars, and company visits, allowing you to experience a subtle blend of theory and practice. Be aware: the name of this program varies depending on the institution. For example, at Hénallux, you will study a "Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering Sciences", while at HELMo, it is called a "Bachelor’s in Industrial Sciences".

Where Can I Study Industrial Engineering? 📍
- In Brussels, you can enroll at HE2B – Brussels, HELdB – Anderlecht, or ECAM – Brussels.
- In Hainaut, the program is offered at HEH – Mons, HELHa – Mons, and HE Condorcet – Ath, Charleroi, Tournai.
- In Liège, you can study at HELMo – Liège or HEPL – Liège.
- In Luxembourg, the program is available at HERS – Arlon and Henallux – Virton.
Spotlight: Industrial Engineering Master’s at the Defense
You can also pursue a Master’s in Industrial Engineering through the Belgian Defense Ministry. This means that you complete your Master’s at a civilian university, but your tuition fees are covered by the Defense Ministry, and you receive a salary during your studies. Your education is supplemented with military training during vacation periods. Once you graduate, you have immediate job security as an officer in the Defense Ministry. However, you are expected to remain employed there for at least 1.5 times the duration of your studies.
