World citizens stop in Milan: A Belgian Student Perspective on Bocconi University

Bocconi University is one of the top higher education institutions worldwide, recognized internationally for its academics and research in the social sciences, and offering a wide range of English-taught bachelor and master of science programs in the fields of economics, management, finance, political science and data science.

Its modern urban campus is located in the centre of Milan, the country’s commercial, financial and fashion capital, and also its most cosmopolitan city. Studying at Bocconi means joining a multicultural community of over 5,000 international students. Christine, a Belgian MSc student in Management, shares her experience.

 

Why did you choose Bocconi?

In my final year of high school in Belgium I was yearning for an international experience. Whereas Belgium has excellent higher education opportunities, it lacks the highly specialised curriculum and diverse environment Bocconi consists of. Furthermore, the location was ideal. It allows me to live in a different culture, yet be only a 1-hour flight removed from Belgium.

How was your bachelor experience?

During my bachelor’s, I was encouraged to get out of my comfort zone and develop my skills to their fullest potential in an academically enriching setting. On top of that, I had the pleasure to be surrounded by talented peers, coming from all sorts of backgrounds and nationalities. Additionally, with the support of Bocconi’s Career Service, I managed to land an internship at a large multinational abroad, which helped me further enhance my skills. 

What about student life in Milan?

Being a student in Milan means being immersed in a concentration of professional stimuli as well as being able to enjoy a city bubbling with culture in every corner. The vast offer of museums, dedicated cultural weeks, performances and ever-changing exhibitions leaves one buzzing around every weekend.

Why did you decide to stay at Bocconi for your master?

It was straightforward to me that I wanted my Bocconi experience to last longer, which is why I decided to pursue my master’s degree here as well. A new range of challenges has led me to joining new association such as the Healthcare Hub, focusing on policies and economics within the healthcare sector on a global and national scale.

From your words, it sounds like you’re satisfied with your university choice.

Becoming part of the Bocconi family has been one of the best decisions I have made so far, both in professional and personal terms. The university is the perfect catalyst to reach your wildest dreams.
