In this privacy notice, we explain how we process your personal data when you use our website student.be. We inform you about which data we collect, for what purposes, and which rights you have in relation to your personal data.

This privacy notice has been drawn up by BV Dimijob, with registered office at 1150 Sint-Pieters-Woluwe, Guldendallaan 71, company number 0888.468.629. Dimijob is the data controller responsible for the processing of your personal data.

3. What rights do you have regarding your data?

You have several rights regarding your personal data. Below we explain them briefly.

• Right of access and rectification

You can view your personal data at any time via your account. Do you want to update or correct your information? You can do that yourself directly in your profile. You may also request a copy of your personal data.

• Right to withdraw consent

Have you given consent for certain processing activities and you no longer wish this? You can withdraw your consent at any time via our website or by emailing contact@student.be.

• Right to erasure of your personal data

You may request the deletion of your personal data, insofar as this is legally possible. Please note that this may result in loss of access to the platform or services, or that in some cases we may not be able to fully comply with your request.

• Right to restriction of processing

You may ask us to temporarily restrict the processing of your data. In that case, the data will be stored but not further processed.

• Right to data portability

You may request your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format so that you can store it yourself or transfer it to another service provider.

• Right to lodge a complaint

• Data retention periods and data transfers

We do not retain your personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which they are processed. More specifically, your personal data are retained for a maximum period of five years, calculated from your last interaction with our services.

After this period, the data will be deleted or anonymised, unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

• How can you delete your account?

You can delete your account at any time via your account settings on the platform. When you do so, all your personal data and information about your use of the platform will be permanently deleted, insofar as this is legally possible.

• With whom do we share your data?

We only share your personal data when this is necessary for the proper functioning of our services or when you have given your consent.

Your data may be shared with:

Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn or Google, for example for marketing campaigns.

IT and storage service providers such as Cloudinary, Heroku and Axeptio, to ensure the proper functioning of our website and systems.

Mailjet, for sending emails and newsletters.

Employers or accommodation providers, but only when you apply or contact them yourself.

Your data are never shared arbitrarily. When we share data with partners or service providers, this is only done when necessary for the purposes described above, and we always ensure that they process your data securely and in accordance with data protection laws.
