The 22nd of March, 100 young and enthusiastic last year students invaded Telenet Mechelen. Why? For the very first Telenet YG-DAY, the career day that makes a difference. It did not disappoint one bit!
Telenet never spares expense to ‘woo’ its employees, YG-DAY was no exception. The Belgian telecom company organized a fun and entertaining career day for (future) young graduates. On the menu: keynotes, workshops, speed dates, a lunch/networking event and a casual closing drink. The students even had the opportunity to apply for a job on the spot. Not your regular job day, right?
CEO hosts YG-DAY
It was Telenet CEO John Porter himself who welcomed the attendees with an inspiring speech in Telenet’s board room. From there on, the 100 went en masse to the YG-DAY playground. Professional speakers talked about different subjects: the company, its products and services, ideas, teamwork, movies,… The workshops were - as is working at Telenet - interesting, challenging and fun. The attendees could tackle real cases, were challenged to beat the box, asked to direct a stop motion video - be sure to check the results! - and even put on virtual reality goggles.
Thinking makes you hungry, Telenet offered delicious brain food for lunch. It was also the perfect time to network and find out more about the Young Grad Program in an informal, casual way.
And the speed dates? The time to really shine, the opportunity for the students/young grads to present themselves to the recruiters AND apply for a job.
In the following weeks, Telenet will evaluate all attendees and decide who goes to the final stage: the in-depth interviews. Based on those, the new Telenet Young Grads will be selected.
YG-DAY was awesome and so is the after movie!
