🎤 Interview – Saloua, Content Creator Intern at Student

From TikToks and brainstormings to unexpected door drama, she takes us behind the scenes of her internship journey. Curious, creative, and full of humor, she shares how she landed her internship, what real-world lessons she’s picked up (way beyond the classroom), and why she’s a proud ambassador for Student. Saloua's interview :

1. How did you discover Student and what convinced you to look for your internship there ?

I know it through my sisters, they used it in the past for student job, and then came my time for finding a student job nearly 6 years ago. To be honest, I was looking for an internship on Student so I wasn’t chocked that they have some for their own team. I was just looking for an internship in the communication area and I was attracted to Student because I knew it. It was really attractive.

2. Did you find your internship quickly or was it a bit of struggle before you found THE one ?

I had quit some struggles because none of the vacancies spoke to me like Student did, Some had really crazy specifications. There is a lot of competition in the communication field, but I knew what I wanted and Student was the closest to this. The funny thing is when you accept one offer, everybody starts wanting you.

3. Did you apply to a bunch of places or was it love at first sight with the Student’s offer ?

I’ve applied to quit some internships, but when I saw the offer, the match was there !

4. What do you actually do during your internship ? Can you walk us through a typical day ?

When I arrived, I start by checking the socials to see the amount of likes, comments and mentions we had. I check then the groupchat of the people im working with and my weekly checklist I’ve made, because every week we have a meeting to be aware of what we need to do, shoot or post. I also shoot the videos I need to and I'm always bothering my colleagues to do some TikToks.

I use Canva for helping me on doing the thumbnails, I scroll on TikTok to see which trends are popular in both Dutch and French, I can work on my own projects and for sure I'm always fighting with my phone storage !!! And the most important, I have to keep my ears open in case of some gossips in the team for some TikToks or in case of birthdays.

5. Have you learned things you’d never seen at school or uni ?

Yes ! For example, how the social medias really work, because at school its always : ”you should do this or that, blablabla”.

Also, how to manage my time and my tasks and finally, how to have a good work/life balance.

6. Are you working on any cool projects right now ? What’s the thing that excites you the most ?

To be honest, I think I really like every projects I'm on, because the team is super chill and cool. I can come with the dumbest tik tok idea to shoot, and always someone will like it and do it. This allows me to be creative and find new interesting insights.

More on my personal side, I'm currently doing a survey about the new school system in Belgium.

7. How would you describe the vibe at Student ? Chill, focused, or totally fun ?

I feel like my ideas are well received and everyone’s on the same wavelength, which makes collaboration really easy. The atmosphere is always fun at the office — some days are busier than others, but there’s a great balance. Everyone gets along really well, which makes it genuinely enjoyable to be here. Plus, since everyone has a good sense of humor, creating funny content feels natural.

8. Got any funny or random stories from your time with the team ?

Every TikTok has its own funny story behind it !

But, at the beginning of may, all my colleagues were having a workshop. I was alone at the office since the only colleague who was with me had to go to an appointment. Everything goes pretty well until I had to do a short toilet break.

I came back… and the door won’t open ! No matter how many times I tried to open it, the door was still closed. My internship mentor told me I could text her for everything when she’s away but I knew she couldn’t do anything for this.

I had then, alone, a small mental breakdown on the couch. I started brainstorming, still alone, what my options were which weren’t a lot… I couldn’t text anyone to help and I didn’t want to ask other people from other companies to help.

After regaining some composure, I decided my only option was to break down the door. Everyone at Student know that the second door is broken, so always open. I just had to check if it was true. Guess what ?! Turns out it wasn’t a myth and the door was in fact open... So I closed the door behind me and I went to sit at my desk and pretend nothing happened.

So to everyone from Student is reading this, yes… I did lock myself out on the 8 of may 2025.

9. If you had one tip for a student struggling to find an internship, what would it be ?

Go to Student ! Duuuhhh !

But more seriously, don’t be discouraged, don’t stop believing in your own qualities, you will for sure find an internship and a team that match your vibes.

10. Now that you’re “ on the inside”, would you recommend Student to your friends ? Why ?

I’ve always done that before, so now that im on the inside, I make even more publicity for Student ! I wear the socks ! I have all the stickers on my laptop and I know I will be continuing my studies after this internship, so I will for sure continue recommending Student !
