Nyenrode Business University is one of the high-ranked business schools in Europe. Nyenrode is based in Amsterdam and Breukelen, the Netherlands, and provides English-taught bachelor and master programs in the fields of business management. How does a study experience in The Netherlands looks like? We asked former Nyenrode Master student Gabriele Qualla from Italy.
“As a bachelor student, I studied at Bocconi in Milan. As a upcoming graduate, I was looking for a new opportunity abroad. My decision to choose Nyenrode for my masters was mainly based on the fact that The Netherlands has many multinationals. It is therefore the perfect place to pursue a career in a large international company. I learned about Nyenrode due to the Financial Times rankings covering the best European universities. Nyenrode seemed to have a great reputation in The Netherlands, especially regarding the network as I planned to work in The Netherlands.”
Company visit abroad
“One of the reasons that Nyenrode’s Full-time Master of Science in Management program (FTMSc) is unique, is that students can have a chance to join a global immersion program. This is a one-week study trip abroad, in which students learn more about doing business worldwide and the different corporate cultures. The global immersion program is part of the three tracks/specializations (Global Business, Digital Business & Innovation, and Finance Management) of the program. Myself, I joined the trip to Shanghai in China. The trip was very interesting to understand how the latest business models work in China, the key relationship between companies and the government.”
Shape your own study experience
“As an upcoming student you have two locations to choose from: Amsterdam and Breukelen. I preferred studying on campus and gain most out of the strong network Nyenrode has to offer. The campus is wonderful! You can expect an American-College-like campus life, rare in The Netherlands. At the campus in Breukelen, you can fully focus on your student life by becoming an active member of the numerous committees from the student association, NCV. On the other hand, the campus also allows you to have a relaxed life: it is up to each student to decide whether to be socially active every day or study and immerse themselves in the greenery around the castle.”

International community
“At Nyenrode I was lucky enough to live in a small and tight international community. Being close to the community so far from my daily life was certainly the best lesson, which enriched me a lot on a personal level. At Nyenrode, in general, challenges are plenty and it is a fertile ground for learning to be flexible and mature in an environment different from the ordinary.”
Gabriele graduated from the Full-time Master of Science in Management program at Nyenrode in 2020. After finishing his internship at Unilever, he is currently working in the marketing department of Nike.
