Know you can. A real-life story of two young graduates
“Know you can.” It’s something that we live by at AXA. We want to offer a workplace where you can be who you are and become what you want. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? But you don’t have to take our word for it. We spoke with Elina and Mathias who started their career as management trainees at AXA. Each with their own ambitions and dreams.
A program that spins
What does a management traineeship at AXA look like? It’s a two-year program where you rotate in different roles and teams. Where you experience, learn and develop on the job. Grow your network and boost your leadership skills. With lots of training, coaching and responsibility from day one.
Today Elina is in her third rotation, working as a transversal transformation consultant. Before that she worked in employer branding and as a consultant in pension, protection & health. “After graduating, I had no idea where to start my career. I never saw insurance as being exciting. Until I spoke with AXA graduates and I felt a click.”
Glow up as a leader
Mathias started as a management trainee about four years ago, as a customer journey expert. Now he is Head of Digital. “Thanks to the rotations, I got to discover and develop my strengths and preferences. Honestly, I would have never imagined working in digital upon graduation.”
“It’s been a playground full of opportunities. I got to drive change with transversal projects, manage a team and eventually lead digital. The program and training allowed me to develop my own management style in line with my personality.”
“From the moment you walk in, you instantly feel welcome for who you are as a human being.” - Mathias

Mathias: “AXA’s values are strongly in line with my own. Especially with regards to diversity and inclusion. From the moment I walked in, I instantly felt welcome for who I was.”

Elina: “It’s all about having the right attitude. AXA is a big international company. But despite the size there’s a great, informal and open atmosphere. Everyone is really approachable.”
“You get a lot of trust and freedom from the very beginning. I was proud when they assigned the Top Employer project to me. It was the first time AXA participated in a long time and I got the responsibility of the full coordination of the project.”
“I was only a year in when they assigned an intern to me. It shows they really trust you and that gives you such a great boost” - Elina
Move forward
Elina: “You learn a lot from a program like this. How companies work, how to build a network, how to coach people, ... I was only a year in when they assigned an intern to me. It shows they really trust you and that gives you such a great boost.”
Mathias: “I am quite proud of my career path. The key lesson? Insurance is not boring at all. It’s challenging because of its complexity. It’s everywhere and vital to protect society and our loved ones.”
