Your new mission

Your new mission

Do you want to experience EU policy-making from the inside of a global company? As intern in our European External Affairs team in Brussels, you follow EU legislation that shapes how Unilever does business. You research policy files, map what key stakeholders think and help us bring our position to the EU institutions, on topics such as unfair trading practices, biotech, circular economy, packaging and detergents.

Who are we?

We are a team of 5 European External Affairs professionals based in Brussels. We have embarked on an exciting journey to decouple our business growth from our environmental impact, while increasing our positive social impact, and we drive this agenda with the EU institutions and other European stakeholders. We work closely with Unilever’s 4 Business Groups to make sure business priorities and strategies are supported by EU legislation.

Main purpose of the internship

You support the team in monitoring, analysing and influencing EU policy. Your research and briefings help the team decide where and how to engage, and you get a front-row seat at conferences and meetings in the Brussels policy world.

Your key responsibilities

  • Doing background research and analysis on emerging EU policy issues.
  • Researching and analysing the positions and activities of key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring regulatory, legislative and political processes of interest to Unilever.
  • Focusing on files such as the revision of the Unfair Trading Practices rules, the Biotech Act II, circular economy, packaging and the detergents regulation.
  • Attending conferences and external meetings, and debriefing the team.
  • Drafting advocacy materials and slides, and helping to organise events.

Who are we looking for?

  • You are enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student at a University, Business School or equivalent during the entire internship.
  • You ideally study Political Sciences or European Studies; International Relations or EU Law are also relevant.
  • You are available for 4 to 6 months (at least 32 hours a week), starting March 2027.
  • You have top writing skills in English.
  • You communicate well and can explain complex EU policies in a simple way.
  • You have a basic understanding of EU policy-making.
  • You are proactive.
  • You are fluent in English. Knowledge of French is a strong plus.
